However it is made of galvanized steel to stand up to weather and this will not affect the performance or durability. If you prefer the painted look you can very easily paint the tail after you receive it. The frame, hub and PMA are painted. The only difference is that the tail is not the red that you see in the pictures. Why should you buy our wind generators instead of our competitor's? The first and most important reason is that we care! You will get the best customer service from Mike's Windmill Shop. We are a family owned business and treat each of our customers as if they are the most important. You will get personal communications. When you call or e-mail you get the owners of the business. Mike personally tests every unit before it is shipped out to you. This is our business and how we feed our family so we want each and every customer to be happy. Much of our business is referred from our happy customers and that is how we want to keep it. Purchase price includes a 90 day waranty. You can purchase an extended waranty for $30 per year. Simply add the waranty price to the payment or contact us to have us include it in the invoice. Many of the other wind generator companies will claim a long term warranty but have so many exclusions that they are worthless. They will charge to look at the broken item, charge to return it to you, and will refuse to fix it if they no longer make that same model. And then they change their models every few months so that the warranty is no longer valid. With our warranty we do not charge any type of consultation fees, no return shipping fees and if we do make changes to our wind generators you will get the upgrades when we fix any broken item. If an item needs repair while under waranty simply send it to us and we will fix and return it and no cost. There are many more advantages to using a Mallard 800E wind generator The Mallard 800E is a great system for moderate to high wind speeds. It will start charging batteries at around 12MPH winds. It will start out with 12 volts and will very quickly produce much more. If you need 24 volt please let us know and we will send you the 24 volt version. By producing higher voltage the batteries will charge easier. We have had customers report back to us that they have had extreme winds and were getting over 1500 watts from these systems during those winds. Wind power is a perfect compliment to your solar system. Most of our customers use a combination of wind and solar power. That way they can take advantage of all weather conditions. When your neighbors are cursing the wind, you will be praising it! Built to be very reliable with Heavy gauge metal stronger than most others 6 carbon fiber blades. 59†diameter. The Mallard 800 E is a fixed tail system. The advantage of this is that when you get high winds the blades will stay facing the winds and you will get full power from your wind generator. When the others furl out of the wind they are losing some of the best charging conditions. You do not need to take our units out of the wind unless you are expecting hurricane force winds. These blades have been tested at over 100 mile an hour winds. However if you do get winds over 60MPH you may want to order an extra hub and put two hubs on for extra strength. There is a simple wire tension design to eliminate the need for slip rings and this makes it more reliable. The method has been tested for many years with no problems detected. It is very simple to use. All you do is use SJ 10-3 wire and run it down the center of the pole. This is a heavy rubberized wire and acts like a big rubber band and brings it back in place again instead of knotting up. This is much more reliable than the old brush systems. Unregulated D/C voltage for more reliability and power. We have regulators available seperately that work with the batteries so that there is no computer parts in the wind generator. We highly recommend that you use a charge regulator with this system. In this system you will receive 6 carbon fiber blades – hubs – frame – permanent magnet alternator – tail. This is the complete wind generator but does not include tower, wires or batteries etc. All parts are new with the alternators made from remanufactured GM alternators with new professionally wound stators that are specifically wound for wind generators. Also have new bearings and a very powerful mass neodymium magnet. As the bearings break in the system requires lower winds to engage. This is a very economic, high quality system at a low price. Even though these blades are made of carbon fiber they are very sharp and can move very quickly in the wind causing severe injury. As with any wind generator take ALL safety precautions. Only work on putting up your wind generator during low or no winds. Use at your own risk. Results of 12 volt Mallard 800E when tested using our test truck, actual production will vary depending on the location that you install the wind generator and how well the winds can get to the generator.
